Intruder has an excellent disease package including intermediate resistance to Phytophthora. Fruits are large, blocky, and have thick walls. Plants are medium large with a good canopy to minimize sunscald. Well adapted to the Northeast but also performs well in the Midwest. High resistance to bacterial leaf spot races 1–3, 7, 8, tomato etch virus, and tobacco mosaic virus; and intermediate resistance to Phytophthora.

El Jefe is pronounced “El Heffay”, which means “the Chief” or “the Boss” in Spanish. This large variety produces heavy yields of high-quality Jalapeno hot peppers throughout the summer months. The 3 1/4″ long x 1 1/2″ wide (8.3 cm x 3.8 cm) fruit boasts a well-rounded flavour and sweetens somewhat as it gets riper. El Jefe is fairly low maintenance and easy to grow. It has a good tolerance of many diseases and is resistant to cracking and purpling. Moderately hot: 4000- 6000 Scoville units.

This totally unique variety is amazing! Smooth, 2 to 3 ounce fruit starts off green with dark green stripes and striking indigo colored splashes.
